(Salt Lake City, UT) - Attention all creative-types artists or just those who appreciate nature and animal art! It’s time for the 16th annual World of the Wild art exhibition at Utah’s Hogle Zoo, January 31 through March 15, 2009. The art show is housed in Hogle Zoo’s auditorium adjacent to the Capuchin and Golden Lion Tamarin exhibits and is free with regular Zoo admission during regular Zoo hours. Consider this Utah'™s only growl-lery stroll representing all different media from oils and pastels to photography and 3-D works of art.

Hogle Zoo’s World of the Wild art show is a competition/ exhibition intended to encourage diverse artistic interpretation of the natural world, and bring these works together to help everyone gain a greater appreciation for wildlife and wild places. The works feature local artists from all age groups, walks of life and experience levels—from amateur to professional artists, including this year’s featured photographer, Suzanne Wille. This year’s commemorative poster featuring Wille’s stunning photograph of Hogle Zoo’s Amur tiger, Kazak, is available for purchase at the door. Additionally, most of the artwork is for sale, with 30% going toward the continuation of art programs at the Zoo.

This art exhibition is also unique in that the Utah Arts Council selects 25 pieces to travel around the state of Utah as part of their Traveling Exhibits program. Hogle Zoo is open year-round from 9 am to 4 pm November to February, 9 am to 5 pm March to October. Visit Hogle Zoo online at www.hoglezoo.org or for more information, contact Community Relations Coordinator Holly Braithwaite by email at hbraithwaite@hoglezoo.org or call (801) 584-1729.
