Suzanne started volunteering at the Zoo when she was 13 years old, having grown up in Sandy and always interested in working with animals. Volunteering for that one summer, scooping poop and helping feed animals was "the best summer vacation ever!" Unfortunately, she also discovered that summer that she is allergic to animals and hay, so when she went to college she majored in Biology Education. While attending Brigham Young University, she once again looked into volunteering at the Zoo, and discovered the Docent program. Docents teach people about animals and conservation, so it was a perfect fit for her interests. She had been a Docent for three years when a position opened up and was hired as the Volunteer Coordinator in the Education department. "I still love working with people to teach them more about animals at the Zoo and around the world. My position at the Zoo has let me meet and work with some great animals and people, and even travel to Africa with the Zoo’s travel programs."
Bobbie books all the field trips to the Zoo.
