Our veterinary staff cares for over 800 exotic animals in the Zoo’s animal collection.
Dr. Nancy has been with the Zoo since 2002.
Dr. Erika graduated from Michigan State University veterinary school in 1997. She practiced dog and cat emergency medicine for several years before entering the zoo field. A joint zoo internship at the Lincoln Park Zoo and Shedd Aquarium in Chicago introduced her to zoo medicine and a highlight was working with dolphins, whales, sharks and stingrays. She completed a 3 year residency at the Saint Louis Zoo and along the way did field work with lemurs in Madagascar and penguins in the Galapagos Islands. In July 2006 she became Hogle Zoo’s Associate Veterinarian. Through Hogle Zoo she has participated in additional field work in Papua New Guinea with tree kangaroos and is a member of the zoo’s Conservation Committee. One of the perks of being part of the vet department is the interaction with ALL the animals and their keepers.
Bethany likes to go to Africa.
