This 11-day conservation tour is a great combination of wildlife viewing and experiencing one of Africa’s greatest comeback stories. Days 1 ~ June 14
Johannesburg, South Africa
Guess will arrive into Johannesburg, via the O.R Tambo International Airport, by their own arrangements. After being greeted at the airport you will be escorted to the Southern Sun, a luxury hotel, conveniently located within a few minutes of the airport.

Day 2 ~ June 15

Johannesburg to Kruger National Park 

After a hotel breakfast, you depart for your overland journey to Kruger National Park. Once you leave the busy city of Johannesburg you will enter another world – a glimpse into South African life, driving through farmland and other scenic landscapes. Upon arrival at the Rio Vista Lodge, you may spend the afternoon relaxing by the refreshing pools, the Deck restaurant with full a bar, or the luxury River Haven Day Spa— all overlooking the Crocodile River and set to the breathtaking backdrop of Kruger National Park. Guests can enjoy stunning river view sunsets while taking in the wonderful wildlife viewing opportunities. Breakfast and dinner included.

Day 3 ~ June 16

Kruger National Park

Get ready for safari in Kruger, South African’s iconic National Park! Famed for its density of wildlife, travellers come here to see the big five: elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and rhino. You will start your adventure with an early morning safari and breakfast in the bush. The group will return to the lodge where you can spend the afternoon around the swimming pool or relaxing on one of the decks looking into the Park. The group will return to the Park for an evening game drive where you will experience a break-taking African sunset – you will also have the opportunity to experience the Park at night before heading back to the lodge for dinner.

Day 4 ~ June 17

Kruger National Park

Get an early morning start for a full day game drive in the Park! Remember you are not only here to see the famous five, but there is so much more to see – many interesting creatures, trees and plants, stunning birds and lovely scenery.

Days 5 ~ June 18

Kruger National Park to Maputo

An early morning wake-up call will start your day with one last morning game drive in the Park. The group will return to the lodge for a light lunch and depart by 13h30 or 1:30pm for the 2-3 hour drive to Maputo for a late afternoon arrival to the hotel. The evening can be spent enjoying an African winter solstice and relaxing around the pool.

Days 6 ~ June 19

Maputo to Gorongosa National Park

Following breakfast, you will head to the airport for a one hour commercial flight to Beira. The group will be met at the Beira airport by Gorongosa National Park staff for the half hour charter flight to the Park. After arriving at Chitengo, you will have time to settle into your African bungalow and meet the group to take part in an African sundowner (sunset, drinks and snacks) followed by dinner at the Chikalango restaurant.

 Day 7,8,9 ~ June 21-23

Gorongosa National Park

Each day in the Park will start with an early morning game drive, walking safari or canoe excursion. Late mornings and afternoon activities will connect you to the community conservation programs including tree planting, community education centre, and E.O. Wilson labs, which have been critical to the Park’s success. The last full day in Gorongosa will be spent at Mount Gorongosa, including lunch by the Mount Gorongosa waterfall and touring the community conservation coffee project – the rainforests on the mountain are home to many rare species including the pygmy chameleon and green-headed oriole.

All meals – breakfast, lunch and dinners served in the Park are included.

 Day 10 ~ June 24

Gorongosa National Park to Johannesburg

You will have an early morning start with one last Safari and breakfast at Chikalango. The quick charter flight will take you back to Beira – there you will take a two hour commercial flight to Johannesburg. The Johannesburg airport offers a range of African curio shops, duty free stores and restaurants to experience before your departure flight. Arrangements, at your own expense may also be made to freshen-up at the airport day-hotel. Your return flight to the US should not depart Johannesburg earlier than 7:30pm.

  • $500 refundable deposit to hold your space on the trip
  • Full payment is due 1 February 2019
  • In the event that reservations must be canceled, refunds will be made according to the following schedule:
  • After 1 January 2019, US$500 deposit is forfeited
  • After 15 February 2019, 50% of total invoice is  non-refundable
  • After 15 April 2019, 100% of the total invoice is non-refundable
