Looking to spend more time with a wild bunch of people and animals? Interested in working hard, getting dirty, and having some fun in the process? Then volunteering at Utah's Hogle Zoo may be the thing for you!
Our application process is easy: just use the links on the right side of this page to print a mail-in application or to apply online! When we're getting ready for our next training class, we will invite you for an interview. We always have more applications than we're able to accept, but we take as many great volunteers as we can!
We train volunteers twice a year - spring and summer. All types of volunteers are trained in the spring; Zoo Aides and Docents are trained in the fall. The deadline to apply for spring training is March 1st, and the deadline for fall training is September 1st. All applications are kept on file for 12 months.
There is a training fee of $35 for all new Volunteers. Fees include the cost of training materials, name badge and volunteer shirt. All Volunteers are also required to provide proof of a negative TB test yearly once they are hired.
More information on our volunteer programs can be found by following the links below, or if you have any questions you can contact the Volunteer Coordinator sblockburger@hoglezoo.org or phone (801) 584-1737.
Please follow the links below to find out about our different volunteer programs, then fill out an application online! Training classes are held twice a year - on Wednesdays beginning in September, and on Saturdays beginning in April.
All
volunteers at Utah's Hogle Zoo must submit
verification of an annual tuberculosis skin
test as well as attend all required training
sessions.
Dues
and enrollment fees are also applicable.
