Where the Wild Things Art: Kids, Critters, Crafts, andCookies

Join us at the Zoo for a wildly entertaining morning of crafting for kids with animal ambassador friends! This program, designedfor the budding artistic naturalist in your family combines animal science with art. During these 2-hour classes,kidswill get in touch with their creative (and wild) side as they learn about the featured animal, enjoy a meet-and-greet with an ambassador animal, partake in a snack and create a masterpiece to take home. This class is appropriate for kids ages 6 to 11. One adult is required to accompany each group of up to three children.

 $25/participant

  • Parents wanting to participate and create a craft will be asked to pay the regular class price of $25 (No member discount due to the cost of craft materials.)

Lion Still Life

Ages: 7-11
Date: Aug. 10, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

You’ll have a roaring good time during this 2-hour art and science adventure learning about the kings and queens of the jungle! You will travel to the lion exhibit and learn about how lions spend their days both at the Zoo and in Africa. Then you’ll head back to our artist’s studio to meet an animal ambassador, have a snack and create a lion-themedmasterpiece to take home.

Red Panda Extravaganza

Ages: 7-11
Date: Aug. 14, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

You’ll be seeing red, white and black during this 2-hour art and science adventure. You’ll head down to the Red Panda Exhibit to see what our pandas are up to and learn about what their day at the Zoo is like as well as how red pandas spend their days in Nepal. Then you’ll head back to our artist’s studio to meet an animal ambassador, have a snack and paint a masterpiece to take home.

Elephant Experience

Ages: 7-11
Date: Aug. 25, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

You’ll be trumpeting at the end of this 2-hourart andscience adventure. You’ll head to the Elephant Exhibit to see Zuri and Christi and learn about how we care for them here at the Zoo and how elephants spend their days in Africa. Then you’ll head back to our artist’s studio to meet an animal ambassador, have a snack and create an elephant sculpture made from recycled materials to take home.

Orangutan Originals

Ages: 7-11
Date: Sept. 22, 2018
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This 2-hour swinging art and science adventure will take you to the Orangutan Exhibit to see the Zoo’s orangutans and learn how they survive in the wild and how we care for themat the Zoo. Then you’ll head back to our artist’s studio to meet an animal ambassador, have a snack and create an orangutan-themed original art piece to hang on your wall at home.
