Resident to hill forests, moving to lower altitudes in the winter
Beautifully colored with bright plumage. The male has a crimson color on the wings while with the females, the crimson is absent and replaced with an all yellow patch.
Behaves much as other babblers, hunting through foliage or rumaging about in the debris on the forest floor, usually in small parties. It makes a variety of harsh, piping call-notes.
Incubation is 14 days and usually 3 or 4 eggs are laid.
