Planned Giving

Include Hogle Zoo in your Long-Range Financial Planning

There are many options available to include Utah’s Hogle Zoo in your long-range financial planning. The simplest is a bequest in your will. Or, you can establish a trust that will enable you to contribute to the Zoo while providing you with income, helping you meet your current and long-term financial and philanthropic needs. You also can designate the Zoo as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, a life insurance policy or of a bank account or security.

Including the Zoo as part of your estate plan provides many significant benefits today including tax savings, increased cash flow or reduced estate taxes but perhaps the most important benefit is the peace of mind knowing that you have made a difference to the future of animal well-being.

You should consult your tax, legal or financial advisers concerning the specific details and consequences of making a Planned Gift to Utah’s Hogle Zoo and to help you determine which approach is best for you.

Princess Alice Society

The Princess Alice Society recognizes and honors donors who have included Utah’s Hogle Zoo in their estate plans. Such farsighted philanthropic support helps ensure sufficient resources will be available in future years to fulfill our mission to nurture respect and appreciation for the natural world.

  • Our planned giving society derives its name from the much beloved Princess Alice, an Asian elephant who came to the Zoo in 1916. Nickel and dime donations from area school children helped raise $3,250 to purchase her from a traveling circus. Over time, Princess Alice became a major presence at the Zoo, dominating headlines with her occasional “escapes” from the Zoo’s first home in Liberty Park.
