Posted On Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Three penguin chicks have successfully hatched in the Zoo's penguin colony. On September 26th and 29th and on October 9th, 2007. The three chick are all doing well and growing rapidly, quickly losing their downy fluff for their adult plumage.

They are on display in the back area of the penguin exhibit with the rest of the penguin colony.

Black-footed penguins are part of the Species Survival Plan, which is a cooperative program among zoos to maintain genetic diversity within populations of zoo animals.
