Tot Tuesdays

Enjoy fun and interactive educational activities for your kids on Tot Tuesdays! These animal-based inclusive programs are for early learners ages 2-5. Activities are movement-based and incorporate pretend play, fine and gross motor skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, and other appropriate preschool skills. This class series is designed to teach children about healthy living through animal interactions. All abilities are welcome.

Online registration is required for each program. Space is limited. Each child must have an individual ticket for class (includes accompanying adult). A ticket is required for each attendee over six months of age.

$20 per child, includes accompanying adult, but does not include Zoo admission. ($15 for Zoo Members)

Two classes held each day (please sign up for one only):

  • Session 1: 10:00 – 11:00 am
  • Session 2: 1:00 – 2:00 pm

Put Your Right Hand In

The gorilla puts her right hand in…and lets the doctor take her pulse! Animals at the Zoo go to the doctor, just like you! They have checkups and take medicine, just like you! See how keepers and veterinarians care for Zoo animals when they are ill. Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Doctors)

Smiling at Seals

Why so glum? Is it time for a visit to the dentist? Come to the Zoo and put on a smile on your face when you discover how zookeepers and dentists help animals keep their teeth healthy! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Dentists and oral hygiene)

On Top of Spaghetti

Do bears eat spaghetti? Maybe not, but they do love to munch just about everything else. You won’t believe what Zoo animals eat! Some love leafy green salad, and others only eat juicy meat, and others eat just about anything. Find out how you can eat like different animals through stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Healthy diets) *Food will not be served in this class.

The Rhinos Go Marching One by One

The rhinos go marching one by one! Hurrah! Hurrah! Get on the move with the Zoo animals and learn how you can exercise like an animal at home! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Movement and exercise)

Rub-a-dub-dub!

Date: May 14, 2019

Rub-a-dub-dub, two elephants in the bathtub! Find out how animals keep their paws and teeth clean by doing many of the same things you do at home. Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Hygiene)

A Very Tidy Vulture

Did your parents do the unthinkable, and ask you to pick up your toys? There are lots of animals that are excellent at cleaning up their own messes, and even helping to clean others’ messes! Come to the Zoo and pick up on all the ways that you can make life a vulture and help keep your home and the world around you neat and tidy! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Cleaning up after yourself)

Hippity Hop to the Barber Shop

Is it time for a wash and a trim? Make life a rabbit and hop along to the barber shop to get a good brush and wash, or come on in for some “shear” fun with two sheep and a llama! Discover the animals that get their fur washed, brushed and cut, just like you! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Haircuts and washes)

Bedtime Bears

What is our bears’ favorite time of day? Bedtime is the BEARY best time! Learn all about our bears’ bedtime routine and see if you can spot the ways that it is just like yours! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Bedtime and sleeping)

The Patient Crocodile

Hurry! Hurry! Wait! Sometimes waiting for something you want is hard, but there are many animals that are experts at waiting. Discover all the different animals that have a special talent for waiting patiently, and see if you can learn to wait, just like a crocodile! Class includes stories, animal ambassadors and interactive play. (Waiting and taking turns)
