Diabloceratops had a pair of long, sweeping spines on the back of its head or frill. What was the purpose of the frill and spines? Were they for courtship and display? Perhaps, the Diabloceratops with the largest frill and horns was the dominant male – like the bull elk with the largest antlers. Alternatively, were they a defensive weapon against predators? We just don’t know.
This dinosaur had a curved parrot-style beak that carried a powerful bite. Diabloceratopswould have used it to snip off branches and rip off thick leaves.
