Super Sprayer or Scaly Scavenger?

Dilophosaurus probably travelled in small herds or family groups – like wolves today. These dinosaurs were quick and able to cover a lot of ground. Their double crest might have been a visual signal that helped them follow one another as they moved.

The teeth of Dilophosaurus are particularly unique. Behind its front teeth, there is a notch, which indicates that, rather than capturing its own prey, Dilophosaurus was most likely a scavenger. It probably fed off dead carcasses – similar to a vulture today.

In the movie Jurassic ParkDilophosaurus could spit venom. Unfortunately, paleontologists have found no proof it had this ability.
