Utah’s Hogle Zoo is committed to providing quality internship experiences throughout the organization. Our internships have been developed to give interns a realistic, educational experience in areas related to their major area of study and anticipated career path. Interns will receive support from industry professionals that understand the importance of hands-on, educational opportunities for aspiring zoo professionals.
Internships are designed for current college students who have completed sophomore year or who have recently graduated from an accredited college or university. Animal Care internships are designed to provide learning opportunities and practical experience relating to animal care in a zoological setting. Interns will be provided hands-on opportunities to learn from zookeepers about the many aspects of animal care including managing diets, husbandry, behavior, and training.

The Diversity in Field Conservation Intern will work with both our Wildlife Biologist and our Conservation Action Coordinator, with opportunities to shadow in both the animal care and education departments. Focus areas will include; increasing guest awareness of the conservation work conducted by Utah’s Hogle Zoo, field-work, and zoo-wide waste management and energy efficiency.

This internship is designed to provide learning opportunities and practical experience while gaining valuable knowledge relating to a career in informal education. The Education Intern will assist the Public Programs Coordinator with the daily preparation and facilitation of summer camps, and assist with a wide range of other educational duties.
This internship is designed to provide learning opportunities and practical experience while gaining valuable knowledge relating to a career in Special Events. The Special Events Intern will assist the Special Event Coordinators with the daily preparation and facilitation of revenue- generating public and private events, and assist with a wide range of other event duties.
This internship is designed to provide project-based learning opportunities and practical experience while gaining valuable knowledge relating to a career in Graphic Design and Print Production. The Graphics Intern will assist the Creative Works Coordinator with the daily preparation and facilitation of graphic design, print production, sign maintenance, and various other art-related projects and duties.
Zoo Volunteers are dedicated to furthering the mission of Utah’s Hogle Zoo of “Creating Champions for Wildlife.” Volunteers assist keepers in providing the highest level of animal welfare and supporting zoo programs that inspire conservation action through guest education, adventure, and life experiences.
