Sunset Safari: August 12

Unwind at the end of your day with this members-only after-hours safari highlighting lions. Meet the mascots of Real Salt Lake and the Utah Royals, hear from a lion keeper, play games, learn about conservation, and enjoy member-exclusive discounts, all happening only at this Sunset Safari. 

 August 12 schedule:  

• 6 – 8 PM: Real Salt Lake & Utah Royals mascots and ticket promotion   

• 6 – 8 PM: Utah Division of Wildlife Resources information table   

• 6 – 8:30 PM: Lion biofacts and activities   

• 6:45 – 7 PM: Lion keeper chat  

Know before you go:  

• You can enjoy the splash pad, The Eccles Express Train ($3,) and Conservation Carousel ($3) from 6 - 9 PM. 

• Food and drinks will be available for purchase at The Beastro and Oasis Café from 6 - 9 PM. 

• You can save 20% on your purchases from the Wild Zootique gift shop (usually 10%).

Sunset Safari FAQs:

• Can I come before 6 PM and stay late? You are welcome to enter the zoo during general admission hours (9 AM - 6 PM) and stay until the Member Sunset Safari concludes at 9 PM.  

• Can I bring guests with me? You are allowed to bring guests included in your membership level.  

• Can I buy tickets for friends? You or your guests are allowed to purchase tickets and attend with the member passholder for member events.   

• Will the Eccles Express Train or the Conservation Carousel be open? Barring unforeseen weather concerns, the Eccles Express Train and Conservation Carousel should be running. If rides are not included in your membership benefits, you can use your Wild Ride Punch Pass or purchase tickets ($3). 

• What food options are available? Drinks, food, and snacks are available for purchase in The Beastro and Oasis Cafe. You are welcome to bring outside food and drink as long as it does not include glass or alcohol.  

• What if it rains? This event is rain or shine. Inclement weather may affect train/carousel operation, but the event will still take place.  

• Can I rent wheelchairs and strollers? Wheelchairs and strollers are available to rent on a first-come, first-served basis at the Karibu Quick Shop across from Twiga Terrace. 

• What animals will I see? The zoo will be open with some buildings closing throughout the evening (Ape Lobby at 7:30 PM, Small Animal Building at 8 PM, and the Norma Building at 8:30 PM). Animals have access to indoor areas and may choose to be inside.
