Annual Zoo Events

Each year the Zoo holds an annual art show for Utah artists. This exhibit was started to provide Utah artists an opportunity to display their works of wildlife and "wildnature" in a setting complimentary to their work. This show has grown to be one of the best venues in Utah for viewing wildlife and nature art.  Learn more about the show and how to sumbit art work for our next show. Utah’s Hogle Zoo holds an annual Party for the Planet every year around Earth Day. Party for the Planet is celebrated at zoos and aquariums around the nation and is supported by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, environmentally conscious organizations and businesses from along the Wasatch Front participate, along with a variety of live cultural entertainment. Learn what you can do to make a difference and keep our Planet beautiful!

Our members are very important to us, here at Hogle Zoo. To show our appreciation, we host special members-only events through out the summer season. Members can experience the magic of the Zoo at twilight with our "Stay Late 'til 8" nights. Or, for those early risers, our "Sunrise Safaris" give members a chance to see the Zoo's animals greet the day before we open to the public. Booster level members and Donor Club members are Hogle Zoo VIPs. Special members deserve special treatment, so we pull out all the stops for our Booster Nights. Ever wonder what those balls and toys are in the animal’s enclosures? Find out all about enrichment items that keepers use to keep our animals happy and healthy. Throughout the day, watch many of our animals’ activities, then visit our activity stations to learn how to paint like an elephant and forage like a orangutan. Be sure to make plans to be a part of this "fun raising" opportunity at the Wildest Party In Town at the 2012 Zoo Rendezvous, Thursday, September 6th. You'll enjoy exciting animal encounters, live entertainment, delicious food and drink from local restaurants and breweries and our lively silent auction. Learn more.

Utah's Hogle Zoo is working to help save the critically endangered orangutan.  Due to deforestation and destruction of their natural habitat, orangutans are rapidly disappearing from the wild.  In an effort to help preserves their native forests, the Zoo has initiated an art project to help raise money for this cause.  We are calling this project:  "ORANGE UTAHN ART - Orangutans Helping Orangutans."  Learn more.

This Utah Halloween tradition is one of the Zoo's most popular yearly events.  It is family-friendly and provides a safe environment for children 12 and under to trick-or-treat at booths set up all around the Zoo. Utah’s largest animated holiday light park is going wild!  See the holiday lights everyone is talking about with over one million sparkling holiday lights in the trees, around railings and over 200 animated light displays! View glittering animated animals made out of lights, warm up under heaters and enjoy savory seasonal treats along the way. To make your evening merry and bright, listen to live entertainment as you sip on hot chocolate, and then complete your holiday shopping at the Wild Zootique gift shop. Weather permitting; you can take a ride on the Conservation Carousel!
