A "small" naming opportunity

A sand kitten was born on June 2 to first-time parents, Cleo and Asim, and July ZooBrew guests will have the exclusive chance to help choose the kitten’s name.

During the event, you can vote for your favorite from three name options by making a donation in Oasis Plaza. Every vote supports Hogle Zoo, and the name that receives the highest donations will become the kitten’s official name. ZooBrew guests will have the opportunity to pick their favorite name between:

  • Khali (KAH-lee): Refers to the Rub’ al Khali (Arabic for “Empty Quarter”), the world’s largest continuous sand desert.
  • Reyah (Ray-ah): Berber name meaning moonlight, and Arabic name meaning golden.
  • Phoenix: Refers to the native Sahara Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera), a resilient desert tree.

Whisper Warning
During your visit, you may see Cleo and the kitten in the Small Animal Building, open from 6:30-8:00 PM. Please channel your inner desert cat and speak in a quiet whisper when you visit. Your soft, respectful voices are the perfect gift to help Cleo and her kitten feel safe, cozy, and right at home.
