Hogle Halloween is Hogle Zoo’s signature Halloween-themed, after-hours event featuring a family-friendly light display. During Hogle Halloween, the zoo transforms into a glowing autumn destination with seasonal decorations, interactive attractions like Spiderella’s Lair, Dr. Frankenstein’s Mad Lab,  and exclusive treats available at The Beastro.

Hogle Halloween Schedule:

• – 6:30 – 9:15 PM-Spiderella’s Lair: Explore the wonderful world of arachnids with the elegant and decorous Spiderella. Learn about the role spiders play in our society, how they survive, and what unique adaptations they have in this (not so scary) meet-n-greet.
• – 6:30 – 9:15 PM-Tale of the Mountain Screamer: Discover the Legend of the Mountain Screamer on a family-friendly adventure. In this immersive experience, a quirky zombie ranger guides guests through Wild Utah, giving them exclusive access to Hogle Zoo’s native animal habitats.
• – 6:30 – 9:15 PM: Eccles Express Train ($3.50) and Conservation Carousel ($3.50)  
• – 8:00 PM-Dr. Frankenstein’s Mad Lab: Dr. Frankenstein’s at it again in Wildlife Theater! During this 25-minute sit-down puppet program, Dr. Frankenstein and her trusty lab assistant, Igor, will tackle devious ways to save some of our most endangered species.

We can’t wait to see your costumes! Costumes are welcome and encouraged for Hogle Halloween! As a family-friendly zoo, we ask that all costumes be appropriate for guests of all ages.

For the safety of our guests, staff, and resident animals:

• Full-face coverings, full-face paint, and costume masks of any kind are not permitted.
• Weapons, realistic prop weapons, and large costume props are not permitted. This includes items such as swords, knives, bows, guns, wizard staffs, spears, or other large handheld accessories, regardless of whether they are intended to resemble a weapon.
• Guests cannot wear heelys or use bikes, skateboards, or scooters while on grounds, even if they are part of the costume.
• Costumes may not be excessively revealing, crude, graphic, offensive, bloody, or otherwise inappropriate for a family environment.

Utah’s Hogle Zoo reserves the right to deny entry or remove any guest whose costume or accessories are deemed inappropriate or pose a potential safety risk or threat to guests, staff, or animals.

Hogle Halloween runs from 6:30 to 9:30 PM on select nights, September 24 through October 30.

Depending on your group size, we recommend at least 90 minutes to enjoy the event. Hogle Halloween displays glow brighter as the night goes on, so grab dinner at The Beastro first and then explore Hogle Halloween under the stars.

Hogle Halloween is an after-hours light display; most habitats will be closed or dark so the animals can get a full night’s rest, including the Great Apes Lobby, Bear Den, Small Animal Building, Creekside, Asian Highlands, and South Hill.

While animal viewing is limited, the zoo comes alive in a whole new way, with immersive lights, Halloween entertainment, and spooky fun around every corner.

Yes, the Eccles Express and the Conservation Carousel will be operating during Hogle Halloween. Tickets are $3.50 per person per ride.  

Please note:

• Queue lines for the Eccles Express train and Conservation carousel may close 15-30 minutes prior to Hogle Halloween closing at 9:30 PM.
• The Eccles Express cannot run when there is rain, ice, or snow on the tracks. 

Yes! Hogle Halloween happens rain or shine, so gear up for a night like no other.  Hogle Halloween admission tickets are not refundable due to weather.

Yes, you can buy tickets for Hogle Halloween at the ticketing windows. However, we recommend buying your tickets online to save time.  

Yes, Hogle Halloween is more fun with friends! Zoo members can use their membership discount to buy tickets for their family and friends.
